Serving veterans seeking employment
The Department of Veterans' Services was providing about eight veteran toolkits a month but wanted to provide more to help veterans gain employment.
The Department of Veterans' Services embarked on a multi-agency problem solving effort to provide 20 toolkits per month. By revising internal processes at Veterans' Services and the Department of Economic Security and creating new Standard Work practices, staff redefined roles and criteria for the requirements of the veteran toolkits, making them accessible to more veterans. The agencies also set outreach goals to increase awareness among veterans.
There has been a 300% increase in veteran toolkit applications. During fiscal year 2022, the Department of Veterans' Services delivered nearly 500 veteran toolkits with a 100% positive employment rate.
